  • Christine Kehrer, Director of Research Open or Close

    Ms. Kehrer directed the information services and survey business of Kenneth Kehrer Associates, including the Kehrer Bank Fixed Annuity RateWatch and RateWatch Plus [which monitored the features and pricing of the best selling fixed annuities through banks], the Monthly Bank Investment Services Monitor survey of large banks, the Monthly Community Bank Brokerage Survey, monthly surveys of bank annuity and mutual fund sales, and the company's hallmark information service—the Annual Kehrer Financial Institution Investment Program Benchmarking Survey. In addition, she was the author of the annual Bank Investment & Insurance Services Compensation Study, and co-author with Dr. Kehrer of the BISA's Quarterly Productivity and Performance Report and Annual Industry Trends Study. Prior to the formation of Kenneth Kehrer Associates she was an analyst and survey manager at a Princeton-based think tank.

    As director of research at Kehrer Beilan Research & Consulting, Ms. Kehrer oversees the firm’s survey research activities, including the annual Credit Union Benchmarking Survey, and the Bank Broker Dealer Survey. She has also been a driver of the firm’s consumer research using the MacroMonitor database, the gold standard of consumer financial surveys, conducted every other year by the Consumer Financial Decisions group of Strategic Business Insights.

    Tim Kehrer directs the firm’s benchmarking research, which includes surveys of bank broker dealers, third party broker dealers, regional and community banks, and credit unions, and other wealth management firms. He is co-author of a study of the opportunity for credit unions in offering investment services, the landmark study of the value of an investment client to a bank or credit union, and a study of how to create an effective compensation plan for Financial Advisors in credit unions.

    Mr. Kehrer joined Kehrer Bielan Research & Consulting after a successful career in political management that included stints on three winning campaigns for the U.S. Senate. He worked for the independent expenditure arm of a national party committee where he studied public opinion surveys and focus group research from across the country as part of the production and deployment of television and radio advertisements. In addition to his time on the campaign trail, he served as a senior advisor in the U.S. Senate and worked for the Senate Committee on Finance.

    Mr. Kehrer holds a BA in government from Georgetown University.

    Mr. Field provides strategic consulting services focused on marketing and selling insurance and investment products effectively in the banking environment. He specializes in establishing strategic clarity, evaluating product "fit" and developing practical solutions for effective distribution, especially where sales and service personnel have a broad range of product choices for their clients and are subject to a host of competing demands and incentives.

    Mr. Field has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance, banking, and investment industries, most recently as a Senior Vice President with SunTrust Banks, Inc., where he had a 20-year career. As a Product Manager for insurance and annuity programs, he worked closely with SunTrust's broker-dealer, wealth management, and retail banking teams to identify high value products and implement successful distribution strategies. His experience includes strategy development, program design, product development, product management, product and partner selection, due diligence, marketing communications, and marketing support.

    Prior to joining SunTrust, Mr. Field served as a consultant and Senior Vice President with Kaplan, Smith & Associates, Inc., a subsidiary of the First Boston Corporation, and as Manager of Retirement Products Marketing for Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in San Francisco, California.

    Mr. Field holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley. During his career he has held the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses and has held Life, Health and Variable Annuity insurances licenses in 47 U.S. states.

    Jon’s long and successful career in insurance and banking has included extensive experience as a life insurance producer, trust company division head with over $17 billion of assets under management, individual insurance distribution leader for one of the nation’s largest banks, and life division head for a top fifty US life company. In early 2013, he founded Curley Consulting to work with some of the nation’s largest banks on insurance distribution strategy, and with insurance companies on growing bank distribution.

    Prior to founding Curley Consulting, Jon had been Executive Vice President-Life Division Head for Symetra Financial with over 200 employees, 250,000 in-force policies, and over $700 million in revenue. While there he led the development and launch of a new life product and distribution initiative.

    From 2005 to 2010 Jon was Senior Vice President/Managing Director at Wells Fargo Insurance Services where he headed Individual Insurance. In this role he was responsible for the distribution strategy for individual life products and personal lines insurance for high net worth clients.

    Before the Wells Fargo/Wachovia merger, Jon had also led the Executive Benefits Group for Wachovia Bank. The Executive Benefits Group, now part of Wells Fargo Trust, provided non-qualified plan services to Fortune 1000 companies, administering over $17 billion in trust assets. He also served as President of the Wachovia Insurance Services Broker/Dealer.

    Prior to joining Wachovia Jon spent almost fifteen years as a producer with MCM, a Seattle insurance brokerage firm and member of M Financial. There he led the Executive Benefits practice, providing deferred compensation plan consulting to major Northwest companies, and led the firm’s national joint venture to provide life insurance solutions to Citigroup Private Bank clients.

    Currently Jon serves as a member of the board of directors, and chairman of the audit committee for FCTG, Inc., one of the largest forest products trading firms in the US, with $2.5 billion in annual sales. He has also served as a director of United Way of King County, Washington where he was Chairman of the de Tocqueville Society major gifts campaign for 2012-13.

    Jon is a graduate of Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts and Purdue University Pension and Profit Sharing Institute. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from The American College.

    Jon collaborates with Kehrer Bielan Research & Consulting on improving life insurance distribution in banks and credit unions, accelerating the transformation of firms from a transaction model to an advice model, and assisting firms with their readiness to comply with the Department of Labor’s fiduciary standard rule.
