This is the fall meeting of Kehrer Bielan’s semi-annual study group of CEOs and other key executives who manage the investment services business in banks and credit unions. The conversation explores best industry practices through the interaction of the experience and insights of participants, driven by KBR&C's proprietary research, in the retreat setting of the Fearrington House Inn.

The goal is for the participants to leave the conference relaxed, well fed, and with tangible action steps that they will implement to improve their business. It is an ideal environment for those executives looking for industry ideas, networking, and shared best practices.

This fall we will focus on how the DoL Rule on the Fiduciary Standard for retirement investments is creating urgency for the transition from the traditional transaction/commission model to an advice model centered on advisory products.

The discussion will once again be moderated by Kenneth Kehrer and Peter Bielan—who have been instrumental in helping move the financial advice industry beyond bean counting toward identifying best practices.

The discussion agenda is developed in conjunction with our sponsor partners and participants. Likely topics include:

  • Recruiting and retention of advisors while implementing DoL
  • Compensation trends
  • Reasonable fees and pricing
  • Rightsizing the advisor headcount
  • Alternative approaches to serving the less affluent under DoL—platform investment reps, call centers, digital advice, junior/associate advisors
  • Operational efficiencies
  • Risk management
